Coming Next

Yuck..still sick and well I guess I`ll just share...

Today is the coldest it`s been in awhile - 30 or closer to -40 with the wind chill.

Not happy with alot of things recently taking place..but though it may be awhile in the end I will get what I need.

Just going through some old writings and thinking bout lots of things...like how bad the air is but as I look out over the water and gaze up at the moon one can forget how much damage is done to the planet and the life forces that depend on that fine balance

I had this really strange dream about all the crops failing and those that did grow were diseased and the cats and chickens are wiped out..and some strange funky disease was affecting people...must be fever dreams ..the mountain came down near a populated place...oh well going back to bed as I feel too ill and tired to write much...oh well tomorrow is another day and the 2 years is not up nor is the year..just have to refile and start over...

Hon. Dalton McGuinty: I appreciate the question and the opportunity to speak to this yet again.

I'm proud to lead the first government that is going to put forward a comprehensive and effective plan to address poverty in the province of Ontario. The issue is not whether or not we are going to put out a plan this December to address poverty; it's the rate and the pace at which we can move on implementing that plan. I have said that several times. The economy is in a state of flux. I think we should do here what families do in their homes: If financial circumstances change, then you adjust and you focus on your priorities. You make sure you keep investing in those things which are absolutely essential that you are investing in at present, and you have to be careful about taking on new responsibilities. That's what I've said in the past.

How far can someone adjust or if you have no home or money there is nothing to adjust.

If what this “MAN” says holds true why did they increase their monies?

Workfare does not lead to paying jobs and merely exploits the poor and crushes any attempt to break free from the web of social programs that feeds poverty parasites ….

We will put in place a plan this December. The only issue is-and I look forward to debating this with my colleagues-how quickly we move forward on that plan, the first of its kind put forward by any government in Ontario.

Programs and services do not alleviate poverty nor does it address the systemic issues.

Tell people the truth about the class structure and how Social stratification is locking people into the poverty class.

Who is the benefactor of these services certainly not the poverty class…..

Hon. Dalton McGuinty: I appreciate the suggestions; I really do. My colleague joins 8,500 Ontarians who have visited our "growing stronger" website. We have received over 600 thoughtful submissions. Almost 500 individual experts have engaged in our first-ever province-wide poverty consultations. As I say, we look forward to delivering on that plan in December, unlike the NDP when they were in government.

Let me tell you about some of the things we've been doing in the interim. We have in place a new Ontario child benefit, with monthly payments now flowing to families. It will support over one million Ontario children. We've raised the minimum wage several times over. We've raised social assistance rates several times over. We're investing in affordable housing, a new dental program, a student nutrition program and literacy centres for parents and families. So we're not resting. We look forward to delivering on that plan. We'll keep working in the interim as well.

The clawback of the NCBS was not addressed and many agencies benefited from these ill gotten gains.

The POVERTY CLASS had their basic allowance benefits for OW and ODSP reduced.

DID DALTON REDUCE HIS EXPENSES!

User fees under this government increased radically but no improvement for the poverty class.

True that a small increase in the single digits was implemented but inflation such as heat, hydro etc increased in the double digits sanctioned by the current ruling Liberal party.

How bout education within the poverty class to change core culture naw…we are doing that ourselves…..

What if the “poverty class” suddenly woke up before the next election and had people in every provincial riding run as an independent and gets a seat on the throne.

Will this change the face of Queen`s park Dubbed by the poverty class as the" house of pain"..

You bet it will.

The children in 1995 have grown up and many of them did not forget.

The last statement made by Dalton says it all…more programs and further class stratification.

One by one the poverty class is working towards changing core culture.

A half a million people in the poverty class speaks volumes….

Real Change takes time……..

Retain an office at Queen's Park.

"Independent members have many of the same rights and responsibilities as party members," Speaker of the House Steve Peters said Friday.

"They are recognized to speak during session, they are permitted to ask questions during question period and they can vote as a member of a standing committee."
